Joseph Lambert Award
This award recognizes outstanding achievement and promise in academic research during the first two years of chemistry graduate studies. Professor Joseph Lambert is an internationally renowned chemist who dedicated more than 40 years of service to our department and was the faculty advisor for the PLU Northwestern chapter for more than a decade. To honor his service to the chapter and to the department, this award carries Professor Lambert's name.
The Lambert Award consists of monetary check sponsored by PLU ($250) and a certificate signed by the PLU president. In addition, a permanent plaque has been established, where the awardee's name will be engraved each year.

Any second-year graduate student in the Chemistry Department PhD program can be nominated for this award; however, only those who decide to become PLU members will be considered for the award. Nomination is done by the applicant's qualifying exam committee and has to be submitted to the graduate program assistant after the exam is passed.

- A brief statement of their research interests (no longer than 2 pages, single-spaced, size 11 or 12 font)
- CV
- Letter of recommendation from their faculty advisor
Deadlines
Nominations are made by the qualifying committee at the time of the student's qualifying exam. All application materials have to be delivered to the PLU awards chair ([email protected]) by Friday, November 1, 2019. A selection committee, comprised of the PLU awards chair and three senior students from the organic, inorganic, and physical divisions, will be assigned thereafter and will preside tentatively during the first week of December.
